Uttar Pradesh Government Youth & Student

Mukhyamantri Bal Seva Yojana (UP)

A monthly allowance plus free residential schooling for children who lost a parent or guardian during the COVID-19 pandemic

This Uttar Pradesh scheme supports children whose parent or guardian died during the COVID-19 pandemic. The family or guardian gets a monthly allowance for the child's upkeep, and the child can also be given free schooling with accommodation. The aim is that the child's education does not stop because the earning parent is gone.

Who can apply

  • Child who lost a parent or legal guardian during the COVID-19 pandemic
  • Child is a resident of Uttar Pradesh
  • Child is being looked after by a surviving parent, a guardian or a relative

What to take with you

  • Death certificate of the parent or guardian
  • Child's Aadhaar card and birth certificate
  • Guardian's Aadhaar card
  • Bank passbook of the child or guardian
  • School record of the child

How to apply

Apply through the District Probation Office in Baghpat, which handles this scheme for the district, or through the state portal at balsevayojna.up.gov.in.

Rejected or still waiting? Check these first

Most applications fail for a correctable reason, not because the applicant was ineligible. Before assuming you do not qualify, check each of these:

  • Death certificate does not establish that the death falls within the pandemic period covered by the scheme
  • Guardianship of the child is not documented, so the payment account cannot be settled

Still stuck after checking all of these? Tell us what happened and we will help you work out which office to approach.
