Kisan Credit Card (KCC)

Crop loan at about 4 percent a year if you repay on time, and no security needed for loans up to ₹1.60 lakh

One card from your bank that gives you credit for growing your crop and for dairy, fisheries and poultry work. Under the Modified Interest Subvention Scheme, farmers who repay on time can bring the interest down to about 4 percent a year on loans up to roughly ₹3 to 5 lakh. For loans up to ₹1.60 lakh the bank cannot ask you to pledge anything as security.

Who can apply

  • Owner cultivators farming their own land
  • Tenant farmers and sharecroppers
  • Members of Joint Liability Groups
  • Farmers doing allied work such as dairy, fisheries or poultry

What to take with you

  • Aadhaar card
  • Land papers (khatauni) or tenancy proof
  • Bank passbook
  • Passport-size photographs

How to apply

Apply at any bank branch, preferably the one where you already have an account, or through a Common Service Centre. Ask for the KCC form.

  • Land record or tenancy proof is unclear or not in your name
  • Aadhaar details do not match the bank account details
