Uttar Pradesh Government General Citizen

Rashtriya Parivarik Labh Yojana (National Family Benefit Scheme)

A one-time payment of ₹30,000 to a below-poverty-line family when its main earning member dies

When the person who earned the family's income dies, this scheme pays the family ₹30,000 in one go. It is meant to carry a poor household through the first few months, when there is no income coming in and there are expenses to meet. The money is transferred to the bank account of the surviving head of the family.

Who can apply

  • Family living below the poverty line in Uttar Pradesh
  • The person who died was the main earning member of the family
  • The claim is made by the surviving head of the family
  • Bank account in the name of the person claiming

Who cannot apply

  • Families above the poverty line as per the income limit

What to take with you

  • Death certificate of the earning member
  • Aadhaar card of the person claiming
  • Income certificate
  • Bank passbook of the person claiming
  • Family register extract from the Gram Panchayat
  • Age proof of the person who died

How to apply

Apply through the tehsil office or the District Social Welfare Office in Baghpat. The UP social security portal at sspy-up.gov.in explains the family benefit route and where to submit the papers.

Rejected or still waiting? Check these first

Most applications fail for a correctable reason, not because the applicant was ineligible. Before assuming you do not qualify, check each of these:

  • Family register extract does not show the person who died as the head or earner
  • Income certificate shows the family above the poverty line
  • Application filed long after the death, beyond the time allowed
  • Death certificate not yet issued by the registrar

Still stuck after checking all of these? Tell us what happened and we will help you work out which office to approach.
