A total of ₹25,000 for a girl child, paid across six stages from birth to college admission
The Uttar Pradesh government pays money for a girl child at six points in her life: at birth, after her first-year vaccinations are complete, and on admission to Class 1, Class 6, Class 9 and then a graduation or diploma course. Together the six payments add up to ₹25,000, and the money goes into the family's bank account. The family's yearly income has to be below ₹3 lakh.
Who can apply
- Girl child whose family lives in Uttar Pradesh
- Family annual income below ₹3 lakh
- Family has a bank account and Aadhaar for the girl and the guardian
- Claim is made at the relevant stage, such as birth, Class 1 admission or Class 6 admission
What to take with you
- Birth certificate of the girl child
- Aadhaar card of the girl and the guardian
- Income certificate showing family income below ₹3 lakh
- Bank passbook of the guardian
- Vaccination card, for the second stage claim
- School admission proof, for the school stage claims
How to apply
Apply online at mksy.up.gov.in, or through the Anganwadi worker or the Block Development Office if you cannot apply yourself. You apply again at each new stage as the girl reaches it.
Rejected or still waiting? Check these first
Most applications fail for a correctable reason, not because the applicant was ineligible. Before assuming you do not qualify, check each of these:
- Family income shown on the income certificate is above ₹3 lakh
- Income certificate is old or could not be verified against the tehsil record
- Aadhaar and bank account details do not match, so the transfer fails
- Claim was made without the document for that particular stage, such as the vaccination card or the admission proof
